Glaucoma Association for patients and their families (AGAF) of Spain considers that forgetfulness can lead to poor control of stress and progression of glaucoma. This affects vision loss even greater. Robin adds that often doctors do not inquire into this aspect because they believe that they should not teach the patient how to take a pill, although “the proper placement of a drop in the eyes is very different.”
Should be taken into account many aspects. The study’s authors believe that the drop key to enter the eye without touching the tip of the container, as “pollution,” said Robin, “could cause serious eye infections.”
The detection and proper treatment of glaucoma could prevent much of the blindness associated
The technique analyzes the 139 patients with glaucoma for at least six months, placed their own drops. 61% said they never dropped out, almost 62% said they wash their hands before use, 80% certified not touching the eye with the tip of the container and around 93% said it had no problems. But the reality proved very different.
By videotaping was found that, with a container of 15 ml, only 21.9% could be a drop in the eye without touching it. 30.8% managed to do it with a container of 2.5 ml. On the other practices, only 1.7% washed their hands before and patients used an average of 1.8 drops per eye, with both containers.
